1. Introduction

ImSafe ("ImSafe," "we," "us") is a family safety app that lets parents and young adults stay connected through location sharing, check-ins, and safety alerts. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

• Account details: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and password.
• Profile photo, if you choose to add one.
• Location data, as described in Section 3.
• Safety activity: SOS alerts, check-ins, and related timestamps and messages.
• Family group information: who you're connected with and your role (parent or young adult).

3. Location Data

Location sharing is core to how ImSafe works. Depending on your role and settings:

• Parents can request a young adult's current location at any time.
• For young adults, background location tracking is on by default once you join a family inside the app, so your location can be checked without you needing to open the app each time. This is controlled through your device's own Location permission settings, not a toggle inside the app — you can change it there at any time.
• Whenever your location is checked, you are notified that it happened. Notification is not a precondition for tracking to occur, but we always send it.
• Location data is only visible to members of your own family group, never to other users.

4. How We Use Information

We use your information to operate core features: sharing location within your family group, sending SOS and check-in alerts, showing activity history, and keeping your account secure. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your location data for advertising.

5. Sharing With Service Providers

We rely on service providers to run ImSafe, including our backend/hosting provider, our native mobile app platform (used to enable background location on phones), and our SMS/push notification providers for delivering alerts. These providers only receive the information needed to perform their function, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Account settings within the app.

7. Teen & Younger Users

ImSafe is designed to be used by families, which may include teenagers and younger family members joining under a parent or guardian's family group. If you are a parent or guardian adding a younger family member, you are responsible for reviewing this policy and consenting to it on their behalf where required by law in your region.

8. Your Choices

You can control background location at any time through your device's own Location permission settings, update your profile information, and delete your account and data at any time. Contact us if you have questions about your data.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls that restrict data to your own family group.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know through the app before they take effect.
